Please Read: Call for Posters Instructions

The Community Engagement Institute invites poster proposals from undergraduate and graduate students, university faculty and staff, organizational & community/neighborhood leaders, volunteers, faith-based leaders and organizations, health advocates, and grass-roots organizers across the central Alabama area which aligns with the theme Building Bridges for Better Health through Engaging Communities. Poster proposals can represent completed, in progress, or proposed research; program evaluation; conceptual frameworks; literature reviews; advocacy initiatives; or professional skill development for work focused on the following areas:

  1. Racial & ethnic health disparities research and the application of research findings to enhancing overall community health.
  2. Innovative community engagement strategies and approaches to addressing social, economic, or mental health issues in communities.
  3. Social determinants of health and the importance of community involvement in identifying long-term and sustainable solutions for reducing health disparities.
  4. Advocacy techniques, policy issues and customized approaches related to health equity and social justice in communities.

Proposal summaries should not exceed 250 words.

  1. Submissions for research, research proposals and program evaluation should include the research topic/statement of problem, research questions, methods, participants, results, data analysis, and conclusions.
  2. Submissions for conceptual frameworks, literature reviews, advocacy initiatives or innovative practice should include a statement of the issue/problem, the focus of the poster, a brief summary of the conceptual framework, project conclusions or anticipated outcomes, and/or innovative, evidence-based services that will be presented.

Proposals must be submitted electronically NO LATER than 5:00 pm, Friday, October 5, 2018.
